Thailand - Insect Collections

Collect postally used stamps!

I regards this is one of the beautiful insect stamps issued I have in my collection. The printing process added a special refecting coat on the stamps to make the insect look more real and alive (see the single stamp on the insect body). Four different designs, printed in setenant format with two variance (see above).

Issued in low denomination to enable collectors afford to add this beautiful issue in their collection.

Thailand - Flower collections

Collect postally used stamp!

Internet, email and technology advancement created efficiency in communication globally.
Sending letter especially on personal usage is dramatically reduced, this can be seen during festive season such as Christmas and New Year, e-cards and email greetings replaces traditional cards, and on the business letters, it is commonly use franking stamps instead of real stamps. Thus, postally used stamps are getting hard to collect.

I am particularly like to collect used stamps on paper or envelope. I feel that it is more difficult and challenging to collect the complete sets especially those in high denominations. As opposed to collect mint sets. Above are some beautifully designed flower issued from Thailand.

In the coming posting, I will showcase more postally used stamps.

Happy collecting!

Well, I'm not an investor, I'm simply passionate on philately that always bring me joys and satisfaction instead of investment value.

Stamps in box, remember the old day ...

While cleaning up my room for the coming Chinese New Year, I found a jigsaw puzzel box stored all my postally used stamps that I gathered from friends and cut from enveloped many years ago. When I open the box, I see lots of tiny, miniature, beautifully and colourful stamps. The stamps in this small little box bring back lot of sentimental memories. It is like you found a treasure somewhere in your room.

I like to collect stamps on paper (kiloware), each stamp gone through it printed postal value for dispatching letters and the small little postmark indicates the city and date the letter was mailed. All these make this little stamp a masterpiece.

Although it is not in a complete set or in mint condition, but it is worth collecting. It takes time to make the little box full of stamps, but I enjoy the process of collecting stamps at this pace. If you use money to buy the stamps, it is not fun and you will not treat it like treasure.

Till next time.
Happy New Year!

Airmail and Postal Labels Studies

I am into one of the considerably rare field of philately studies, that is study in airmail and it's related postal labels used in mailing services. I been collecting these postal labels for long, which includes airmail, express, insurance, priority or urgent, registered, surface mail or seamail and custom declaration labels.

I have fairly rich collections, especially the airmail labels. Since this is another specialize field, I decided to create another blog just for this area of study and I welcome all collectors to view, comments, exchange ideas, labels and make it interactive to help others to grow this hobby.

An airmail etiquette, often shortened to just etiquette (label), is an adhesive label used to indicate that a letter is to be sent by airmail. It is commonly have a wording "Par Avion" in French or "By Air Mail" printed in blue color.

For Express label, it is commonly printed in red color and for seamail label, it is hard to collect today, as most of the mail sent through seamail will not have a special design label (only some countries have printed this label). All these labels come with different sizes to cater for various sizes of the mailing article, i.e. from letter to parcel. The labels also come in different form in sheet and roll and are available in gummed and self adhesive for ease of use.

Although this tiny labels carry no monetary value like stamps but it is worth collecting and each have unique design, different languages and some with meaningful images and pictorial such as birds, aeroplane, fish and postal service logo.

The photo above shown 3 airmail labels from Africa countries. The top one is from Uganda, printed with the country's national airline logo. The rest of the 2 labels printed the logo of the East Africa Airline (EAA). It was used in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania mailing.

If you would like to explore further, you are welcome to my "Airmail Labels Collection" blog at:

Happy collecting!
